HELPING CARE FOR THE VULNERABLE IN OUR DISTRICT

IN SUPPORT OF:

Church in Regent Park

At Church in Regent Park, we believe that faith is best lived through service. One of our longest standing ministries is the Saturday Community Dinner, a weekly meal that has been feeding the Regent Park community since 1995. What began as a small act of service has grown into a vital support for many who are facing food insecurity, loneliness, or simply in need of a welcoming place to connect.

Every Saturday from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, we serve a free, hot meal in the gymnasium of the Yonge Street Mission’s Davis Centre at 270 Gerrard Street East. This gathering provides more than just food, it offers community and the love of Jesus.

Throughout the years, this ministry has been sustained by the generosity and dedication of partnering churches, businesses, and volunteers. Their support allows us to serve numerous meals each week with warmth and compassion. We are always looking for new partners to join us in this important work whether through financial sponsorship, food donations, or volunteer service.

By sponsoring or supporting the Saturday Community Dinner, you are directly impacting lives in one of Toronto’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. Together, we can extend the love of Christ beyond the walls of our churches and into the hearts of those who need it most.

Hope and Light

Through the ministry of ‘Hope and Light’ Leigh-Ann & Thomas with their team serve with love, compassion and purpose. Recognizing the complexity of needs within the vulnerable and marginalized population. Providing consistent care and support to help individuals move towards sustainable living and wellness. Fostering dignity and cultivating a community where hope is not just offered but actively nurtured in the lives of those experiencing hardship.

Hope and Light’s vision is, to not only build relationships with those they serve, but those who they serve alongside and partner with. It's like dropping a pebble into a pond, the ripple extends far beyond the first moment of contact.  Creating intentional moments to share the unconditional love of Christ & the hope He brings. Each of our initiatives, along with our food security program is intricately designed with intention, to invite people into relationship with us, as we “be the light”.

Street Level Advocacy

“Scott pastored in small Ontario PAOC churches, with his wife Wendy and 4 kids, for 30 years. After a decade at Northview Church in Peterborough, Ontario, Scott felt the definite call to go to the streets of Peterborough as an Urban Missionary.

In the fall of 2020 , Scott started by walking the streets, parks and alleys of Peterborough with a backpack with food and waters and taking new friends for coffees at Tim’s.

By January 2022, Scott had been welcomed onboard Mission Canada as an Urban Missionary and by the spring of 2025, he had a Team of 14 weekly volunteers, a Food Serving Van, a Dining/Clothing/Fellowship Hall Bus, with which they serve the street-affiliated population of the City. All of this has been accomplished through God’s goodness and remarkable provision! (Check us out on Facebook – Street Level Advocacy)

Scott can be reached by Direct Message on the SLA Facebook page or email him at scott.couper@paoc.org.”
